With everything going on, sticking to a regular training schedule had gotten really difficult, which was bad when some of the things that had been going on included torture and Sia actually dying in battle. At the moment, nothing was exploding and she was still waiting on her next orders- she’d bet money that she’d be on her way back to Taivas- she took some time to go down to one of the training rooms to work on lightsaber drills.

Besides, part of her week included a memorial service for the ex that she was still pretty sure was alive and most people hadn’t found out about the ex part, so this was a good chance to work some things out.

"You come to me on a week like this and want me to go easy on them?" Sia said dryly, but it was almost all teasing. So she did as instructed, with lighter blows, and then a slightly harder one, to see how they passed.

"If I still had any schematics for making some Tony Stark-style force fields, I'd reinforce the hell out of these things and you could go crazy on them," Jessica said as she inspected the vambraces. "They held up. No visible damage. I don't think they'd take more than a few full force blows, but they'll help out in a fight."

She took a couple steps back. "You can cut the webbing if you want."

"That sounds unsatisfying," she admitted.

She gave the webbing a few pokes anyway.

"Yeah, but it's convenient for me," Jessica said, grabbing the vambraces as they were cut down. "How are you holding up?"

Sia shrugged one shoulder as she shut down her lightsaber. "I'm holding. I'm not sure whether life going on as normal is a good thing or not yet. In the case of Antares, it's frustrating."

The breakup wasn't bad enough that she wanted him dead, after all.

"In a whole bunch of ways, I'm guessing," Jessica suggested. Because that dude was frustrating without anything else going on. "I don't know that it's a good thing or a bad thing. I tend to see it as just A thing. You deal with those things how you deal with them. And as long as you are dealing, that's the good thing."

"As best I can. Which is possibly why Atton thought he had to keep an eye on me," she said. Or maybe it was why she asked him to stay. "I keep reminding myself that we're moving towards ending this, and I can deal with things until then."

"Good. That's the Sia I know and love," Jessica said. "And once we end this, we'll deal with everything else."

Sia sighed. "Imagine how much there will be be to deal with by that point."

"At least you won't get bored," Jessica offered.

"I'm beginning to think my ultimate goal at this point should be to get to be bored," Sia said, having no idea how right she was.

[craftyladyparts]

"Well, let's get through the fight with the Sith first and then we'll see what we can do about that," Jessica said.

"Do you regret getting dragged into this at all?" Sia wondered.

[craftyladyparts]

"I'm fighting evil and helping get your royal tush out of trouble every few weeks," Jessica said. "No regrets."

“I promise I didn’t think there would be quite this much trouble when I offfered you a job.” Especially when so much of the trouble involved her.

"I'm me. If I'm not dealing with trouble, I wouldn't know what to do with myself," Jessica promised.

"In that case, you're welcome?" Sia tried. "There's absolutely no shortage of it, ever, for thousands of years."

"I hope I can put a dent in that in the next few years. I strive for boredom," Jessica said.

"Let's set a goal: we get to the point where we can be bored, we get a vacation."

It was a compromise for Sia: she'd get to run off when her job was done, and then come back and not feel bad about it.

"Deal. I'm leaving the vacation planning to you, though. I do not have the best luck with travel," Jessica decided.

"Yes," Sia said with a little wince. "Somewhere tropical, that we can get back from."

[craftyladyparts]

"Easily," Jessica said. "You can get back from anywhere. But let's make it easy."

"Perhaps Earth. Then we at least have Fandom to fall back on."

It wasn't that she didn't trust Jessica's luck, it was just...
