Room 317- Saturday afternoon

Sia was curled up on the cushion of her bay window that was totally in her room now, looking out at the scenery below. She'd been feeling kind of weird over the last day or so, for no apparent reason, and now she was just content to be pensive and... hum to herself. The tune just spoke to her.

Just close your eyes

It was apparently that kind of day.

... Yeah, Atton had no idea where that was coming from. It wasn't that much like the really disturbing singing thing a few weeks back, though. It was sort of... drifty.

Drifty definitely described how he showed up in Sia's doorway, though.

"Hey Si."

Sia looked over at him, still not moving from her pensive positioning.

"Hi," she said. "Let me guess, you're bored?"

Atton shrugged one shoulder. "Pretty much," he agreed. "I got tired of watching Squire Driver reruns."

"You're getting predictable," she warned.

And was that all she was good for? Entertainment?

"I think I can live with being predictable," Atton said, stepping into the room. "After all, predictable means nobody's shooting at me. And that includes you."

I don't know what to say, since the twist of fate when it all broke down,
And the story of us looks a lot like a tragedy now.

"I'd never shoot at you," she pointed out, turning to face him. At least not without a very good and possibly tragic reason.

"Lightsaber through the head is just about as bad, princess," Atton said. He left a very significant pause between 'bad' and 'princess', though he wouldn't have been able to tell you why if you'd asked.

"I wouldn't do that, either," Sia replied. "You should know by now that you can trust me."

"And you should know by now I don't trust anybody," Atton said casually, finding a chair to sit on. "It's not personal."

Atton gave her a look. It was a deep look full of personal anguish and deep deep soulwounds that she would never understand. There was torture and pain, alternating like a flickering candle... His mouth moved to speak, curving with eternal sadness.

"I should have brought some snacks, I'm hungry as hell."

Sia raised an eyebrow, but the eternal sadness really touched her in a way that she couldn't explain, a way that told her only she could make it all better.

"You should have brought snacks to my room?"

"You don't really keep anything worth eating in here," Atton said. Staring at her soulfully from his position half-draped over the chair.

"Well, since you bring it up, maybe I should fix that." Because naturally she took everything he said to heart. Couldn't he see that?

She was too good for this world. And that was why Atton could never get any closer than this.

"Get some soda, too."

Spoiler: it was his sad, soulful gaze.

"Weird," Atton said, gazing sadly and soulfully.

His insides hurt like a leaf shredded by twigs in an autumn wind.

Atton got out of his chair.

He walked to the doorway. He... lingered. All the things he couldn't say. All the things he couldn't do. And there she was. There she was.
