notconflicted: (pony!)

Room 327- Saturday morning

Sia had been here all of a couple weeks, and she'd been woefully underprepared for the idea that she might turn into a pony. That, believe it or not, had not made it into the brochure.

And yet here she was, a white pony that still had streaks in her hair- er, mane- standing in her dorm room on all four legs, staring at herself in the mirror and being slightly less convinced with every passing second that she had to be imagining this. Maybe after a few weekends like this, she might get used to the idea enough to remember that at least she was still pretty (for a horse) and go with it.

[Omg, I have never needed ice cream more in my life, but door and post are open!]

Juliet was seated on her bed, trying to paint the tips of her hooves red with a nailpolish brush held in her mouth. She was having a surprising amount of success.

She shifted the brush to the corner of her mouth to talk. "You look pretty," she offered. "For a pony."

"MMMMphthmffnnnn---" Okay, Juliet couldn't talk with the polish brush in her mouth. She grimaced a bit as she shifted it to the side again. "Because the island does this sometimes," she said. "It also likes to make us little kids. Or boys. And one time I was a puppy."

She'd been adorable.

"It usually goes away after a few days."

Juliet snorted, which was a more horsy sound than she liked it to be. "There's no way to change back just because you want to," she reported. "I wish there was."

"If there were, there'd be a line out their door days like today," Juliet said reasonably. "Either it's nobody, or they're super-good at hiding it."

"Because it was fun?" Juliet, who was a foot-stomper to begin with, offered.

"I'm really flexible," Juliet said, and if ponies could shrug she would have. "I think it carries over."

"Could you test?" Juliet wondered. "I would totally test, unless it was computer programming or something like that. I don't want to break my keyboard."

"I don't even know if the clinic has a veterinarian," Juliet mused. "And I'm not great with blood. Maybe it's better not to find out."

So, Britta wasn't exactly too pleased about the pony thing herself, but she figured this might be a good time to make sure she was doing her Big Sibling duties once she figured out that it was definitely a Fandom thing and not a Britta Got Some Really Bad Drugs This Week thing.

Figuring out doors, now that was fun. As well as going down the stairs, but she eventually made it and was glad to see the door open so she could just poke her head in and inquire, "Sia? You here? How're you doing?"

[identity profile] shestheworst.livejournal.com 2012-05-19 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
"Actually?" Britta admitted, coming in with a doubtful look on her newly acquired equine face. "This is the first time anything like this has actually happened to me. I mean, sure, there's been gremlin bites, but this is different because it's an actual change and not just me thinking it's a change, because that happens a lot. I...think it goes away?"

Way to be reassuring, there, Britta.

[identity profile] shestheworst.livejournal.com 2012-05-19 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah," said Britta a little somberly. "I usually miss those things. See, and this is why you always go out to Baltimore or New York to party on the weekends instead of sticking around this crack fest."

[identity profile] shestheworst.livejournal.com 2012-05-20 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
"I'd probably be too wasted to notice," Britta realized, wondering if all those weekends, something had actually happened, but everyone was too wasted to notice.

[identity profile] shestheworst.livejournal.com 2012-05-20 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
"Spoken like a person who's never really been out partying so much they can't even remember doing it," Britta said with a wry smirk. "Sounds like I've been slacking off on my sibling duties and need to take you out some weekend to see what I mean."

No, Britta. That was not a part of your sibling duties.

[identity profile] shestheworst.livejournal.com 2012-05-20 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
"Even these ones?" Britta asked dryly with a pointed lift of a pony brow.

[identity profile] shestheworst.livejournal.com 2012-05-20 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
"Like what?" asked Britta, who found she was actually genuinely curious.

[identity profile] shestheworst.livejournal.com 2012-05-20 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
And, if anything, it was definitely that last one that got Britta. "Okay," she allowed, "maybe there are some lessons to be learned. We can definitely become richer by the experience, but we can also learn things from other experiences, too. Like experiencing completely off the hook parties in the city."

[identity profile] shestheworst.livejournal.com 2012-05-20 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
"All I'm saying," Britta said, and she was going to lift her hooves to emphasize the point and remembered that was a bad idea, "is that you can't knock it until you try it. After you try it, though, I will respect your opinion and know that you speak from both wisdom and experience."

[identity profile] shestheworst.livejournal.com 2012-05-20 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
"Awesome," said Britta, nodding with a bright smile lighting up her pony face. "As soon as we don't have four legs, manes, and tails, I am figuring out one hell of a party night."
