The streets of town- Saturday night

If Sia's father or her Master had been able to come this weekend, they would probably be surprised at how social she seemed. There weren't many opportunities for it back home, and there were far better things to do, but here if there was a welcome picnic and another picnic, that... was probably all there was to do. And now with the text from Olive telling her about another party, she was on her way to that.

Actually, Atton would probably be impressed, too.

"Just an old family friend, apparently," Jaina said. "You're getting off light this time."

Jag looked at her. "This is light?"

He was not having a 'light' weekend. It was good, but not 'light.'

"I met myself yesterday, honey," Jaina reminded him.

All right, he had to concede that. If he met Jaina's younger self, meeting a future granddaughter might seem light to him in comparison, too.

"Where are you off to?" he asked Sia. "We were going to dinner, if you'd like to join us."

Hopefully Jaina didn't mind that.

As meetings went, Sia had expected this one to be worse than it turned out to be, but it also meant she sort of wanted to leave on a good note, before she started asking questions, before they started asking questions, and before she started wanting to call her father and make this weirder.

"I would, but a friend's expecting me at a party," she said. "But you'll still be around, yes?"

"Through the weekend," Jag confirmed. And he wasn't sure when he'd be back, considering his- sigh- job.

"Then I might see you again," Sia said, smiling. "It was good to meet you."

And then she started off past them towards the park before she could change her mind. Seriously, if you had a good meeting like this, keep it good.

For a moment Jag and Jaina stood there before he turned to her and said, "You're not allowed to break up with me again because things are getting too serious after this."
