The streets of town- Saturday night

If Sia's father or her Master had been able to come this weekend, they would probably be surprised at how social she seemed. There weren't many opportunities for it back home, and there were far better things to do, but here if there was a welcome picnic and another picnic, that... was probably all there was to do. And now with the text from Olive telling her about another party, she was on her way to that.

Actually, Atton would probably be impressed, too.

If Jag was going to be staying with her this weekend, Jaina didn't want to spend the entire time at her apartment. Well, she did, but he'd met her grandfather and she'd met Bantha and there were things to discuss, so they might as well find somewhere for dinner and do that on a real date. They didn't get enough of those anyway, since they were trying to keep their relationship out of the public eye back home.

And then she stopped walking when she saw they were headed right towards Sia.

Because of course they were.

Jaina sighed. "You know what, let's go with it. It's just that kind of weekend," she said, and turned to Jag. "You remember how I said you're a great-grandfather? Congratulations, it's a girl."

There wasn't a single comfortable person in this meeting, was there?

Jag would have been able to tell who Sia was just by looking at her, probably even if the white streak that she shouldn't have wasn't a dead giveaway. He still felt like he was missing a lot of steps, though. "It's good to meet you," he said after a moment, though it felt like that fell flat.

"Oh, no problem," Jaina told her. "We have other strange family stuff to talk about so this will be the perfect way to start."

"Nothing you need to worry about, I think. Meeting the grandfather, things like that. You've probably covered all of that," Jaina said.

It wasn't often that Jag spoke without thinking, but that was exactly the sort of thing that would get a, "You take Ethics from him?"

Apparently there was some sort of paternal instinct there, along with the need to tell her that it wasn't allowed, and possibly to call her 'young lady.'

And he didn't even know she was going to be Empress someday!

"I took it, too," Jaina added. "I yelled a lot more. Guaranteed."

There were also fewer Han Solos on the walls these days.

"That surprises no one," Jag replied, ignoring her trademark annoyed scowl.

He looked back at Sia, taking a moment before admitting, "I'm a loss for questions." What did you even ask anyone that many generations down?

[identity profile] owmytoe.livejournal.com 2012-09-30 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
"Ah." That was almost disappointing, as Jag was curious about the questions she had.

He looked to Jaina. "She's better about this than you are."

Jaina swatted his shoulder.

"I feel like we've missed the chance to ask into all your classes and terrorize your friends," she admitted.

[identity profile] owmytoe.livejournal.com 2012-09-30 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
"You can do that at any time," Jag pointed out.
solo_sword: (hearing you out)

"She's no fun," Jaina told Jag.

[identity profile] owmytoe.livejournal.com 2012-09-30 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
Jag sort of liked her so far. Maybe it'd be different if he'd just met her on his own, but he had a feeling they'd get along. Shocking, yes.

"Do you have anyone here for the weekend?" he wondered.
solo_sword: (probably neutral)

[personal profile] solo_sword 2012-09-30 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
"Just an old family friend, apparently," Jaina said. "You're getting off light this time."

[identity profile] owmytoe.livejournal.com 2012-09-30 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
Jag looked at her. "This is light?"

He was not having a 'light' weekend. It was good, but not 'light.'
solo_sword: (yeah sure)

[personal profile] solo_sword 2012-09-30 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
"I met myself yesterday, honey," Jaina reminded him.

[identity profile] owmytoe.livejournal.com 2012-09-30 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
All right, he had to concede that. If he met Jaina's younger self, meeting a future granddaughter might seem light to him in comparison, too.

"Where are you off to?" he asked Sia. "We were going to dinner, if you'd like to join us."

Hopefully Jaina didn't mind that.

[identity profile] owmytoe.livejournal.com 2012-09-30 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
"Through the weekend," Jag confirmed. And he wasn't sure when he'd be back, considering his- sigh- job.

[identity profile] owmytoe.livejournal.com 2012-09-30 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
For a moment Jag and Jaina stood there before he turned to her and said, "You're not allowed to break up with me again because things are getting too serious after this."

In her defense, she'd been twenty-four and an idiot when she did that, thanks.

"Deal," Jaina said immediately.
