Room 317- Friday evening

After being in Fandom for over a year, Sia had finally caved and gotten herself a small laptop computer that she could use, rather than just looking things up on her phone when necessary. In a way, this purchase felt like one more sign that she was going to be here for a while, but this wasn't nearly as scary a prospect as it used to be. Frustrating, and nervewracking with bounty hunters around and all, but not scary.

So tonight was apparently being spent getting things the way she wanted on this thing and mostly ignoring the cup of coffee she'd brought from the common room because someone was a bit focused on playing with her new toy.

"'Newfangled' is an interesting word for it." Considering her datapad had much better tech than this. "But I have finally given in to societal pressure and gotten one, yes."

"Well, if you need any help setting it up, I'm available to help," Jessica said. "For the standard IT consulting fee, naturally."

"You can have friendly conversation and Vitor is always available for petting," Sia said, turning the computer towards her. "This is what I have so far."

Mostly what she had was a new desktop and Firefox.

"Internet. Reading." Sia even shrugged a little, because she realized she was fairly clueless about using these things for say, fun.

"What kind of reading?" Jessica asked as she went into Firefox to start pulling up as many relevant websites as she could think of. "Like, news, or stuff from specific fields? I should warn you that my internet habit is pretty extensive, so you'll probably end up with more bookmarks than you know what to do with."

"I'd rather have too many than not know where to look." She said that now, but wait till she looked at the sheer number of things in her bookmarks and decided she couldn't be bothered not that anyone ever did that or anything noooo. "Definitely world and local news, and whatever site lets me read books."

Jessica made with the typey typey typey while she said, "I actually have a history with news websites, so this 'rather have too many' thing is a huge mistake. I'm even going to go ahead and rank them in order from best to worst by my completely subjective opinions."

"Pretty much, yeah," Jessica said. "Okay, I have a bunch of things in the 'News' folder. The browser will probably crash if you try opening them all at once, so don't do that."
