Room 317- Wednesday afternoon

Sia could be more thrilled with having a... boyfriend? (or whatever they were since they'd never had that conversation) who was currently a German shepherd, but having spent enough time as a cat since she'd gotten here, she knew it probably wasn't great for him, either. Vitor, however, was so. damn. happy. to have a dog-shaped friend, whether Four felt the same way or not.

Basically Sia was trying to get through some messages from home while saying things like "Leave him alone, Vitor" and "Come up here and stop bothering him, Vitor" and getting completely ignored. Sigh.

[For one!]

While on a break from jumping between dimensions to get some food from a diner in Earth-90210 - a diner where all the teenagers looked 30, for some reason - Jessica decided she should probably scout ahead and make sure it was still a preventative mission and not an invasion of her own.

Hey, Sia, your phone was ringing!

(Seriously, that sophomore kid had crow's feet, and they were looking at her weird because she was in costume and looked her age. What the hell.)

"Hey. Quick check, no beings of incredible power have tried to conquer Fandom so they can take over all of reality, have they?" Jessica asked. "I mean, recently."

[identity profile] craftyladyparts.livejournal.com 2015-03-11 07:50 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh, no, they shouldn't have," Jessica said, sounding slightly relieved. "But they will. So do me a favor and watch out for that? If it happens before I get there in a couple days, give me a call?"

[identity profile] craftyladyparts.livejournal.com 2015-03-11 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
"There's a family of vampires, kinda. Apparently they dress really fancy in a way only a couple people in Fandom do," Jessica explained. "They'll probably be very threatening. They might try to hunt down and eat anyone with a spider on a costume. And they want to take over all of reality."

"What I guess I'm saying is that you'll know it when you see it. But if all goes well, they'll never even get the chance to show up."

[identity profile] craftyladyparts.livejournal.com 2015-03-11 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
"I mean, it's Fandom. You guys are ready for this kind of thing at all times," Jessica said. "It probably wouldn't hurt to make sure you enunciate so the squirrels have it down, though."

She was ignoring the looks from the server in the diner. "I'm on the road recruiting some help to handle things on my end. If that works out, I'll be there in a couple days, these vampire guys will be cut off, reality is saved, nobody even breaks a sweat."

[identity profile] craftyladyparts.livejournal.com 2015-03-11 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
"I considered not worrying you about it," Jessica admitted. "But there are enough moving parts in play that I needed to ruin your sleep a little. At least to make sure that I wasn't starting out behind the eight ball."

"Oh, I'm also gonna send you this guy's number. If you don't hear back from me by Sunday, I may have been eaten and you should warn him that Fandom is still a target. He probably won't be able to help directly, but at least he'll know. For the multiversal war we're fighting. Good times."

And that was how Jessica talked about boys and phone numbers.

"He's like me, but male, British, and apparently part of a group of interdimensional police or something," Jessica explained. "He's rounding up other Spider-People to fight these evil Inheritor guys. I guess if they're hunting us, we're either dangerous or delicious. We're betting on the former."

[identity profile] craftyladyparts.livejournal.com 2015-03-12 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
"At least four I know of who've been in Fandom," Jessica noted. "But beyond that, it's effectively infinite. I mean, how many different, distinct dimensions send people to Fandom? And that's an island with, what, several dozen people on it at a time? Scale that up to the rest of the country. Then the world. Then the galaxy, then your galaxy. It's an effectively infinite number, and even if only a tiny fraction of that is conducive to creating someone a lot like Peter, or me, or Spider-UK, it's a potentially unimaginable number. Minus the ones who've already died by the Inheritors' hands."

[identity profile] craftyladyparts.livejournal.com 2015-03-12 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
"They're traveling between worlds freely," Jessica said. "I guess in the case of multidimensional conquering, Fandom's just a big get. You take Fandom, it opens the rest of reality up even wider for you. You can take out a potential pocket of resistance early and have access to all kinds of fancy technology and magic to help you the rest of the way."

"That's why it's just me and whoever I can recruit instead of a big army. Even without Fandom, they're slaughtering Spiders. But if we can stop them, that's one advantage they can't take."

[identity profile] craftyladyparts.livejournal.com 2015-03-12 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
"I have a couple things over the less fortunate Spiders, of course," Jessica pointed out. "I know about them and have a portal device to get me from place to place quickly."

Which wasn't to say that the multiversal extermination of a specific totem wasn't horrifying. But if she didn't break it down to brashly confident logic, she'd have to consider the weight of what was ahead of her.

[identity profile] craftyladyparts.livejournal.com 2015-03-12 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
"Don't make me zombie up to defend myself," Jessica pleaded.

[identity profile] craftyladyparts.livejournal.com 2015-03-12 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
"I promise to be as safe as I possibly can be," Jessica said. "I have to. There's a lot resting on my shoulders right now, and I don't really intend to let all of reality down."

[identity profile] craftyladyparts.livejournal.com 2015-03-12 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
"Will do," Jessica promised. "I should get going. Time's kind of a big factor right now. But let me know if anything weird happens, okay?"

[identity profile] craftyladyparts.livejournal.com 2015-03-12 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
"Myself and the whole multiverse. Not a problem," Jessica said.

Once she hung up, she gave the diners a final look. "Just so you know, this is about to get weirder." She dialed in her next destination on her portal device and stepped through the blue portal that opened up.
